The Grasmoor House

The Grasmoor House is located on the corner of Madison and Vista in Hyde Park. The 1940’s blond brick building is named for the farm that occupied the site in the mid-1800s. Albert E. Heekin took ownership of the land in the early 1900s, and hired Emery Roth and Sons, the New York architecture firm to design the building.

Roth was known to design many distinctive New York residential apartment buildings of the 1920s and 1930s, incorporating Beaux-Arts and Art Deco details, including The Beresford, the Hotel San Moritz, the Sam Remo, and The Normandy to mention a few. The firm also designed school and office buildings.

The Grasmoor House condominiums are separated into two structures with towers. A garden courtyard with a fountain separates the two buildings. The buildings are comprised of 55 condo units—all of varying sizes.

"When I first viewed the Grasmoor, I gasped with delight and remarked, "One day I would love to live there." That happy day came this May as I moved into my new home here at the Grasmoor." ~ Carol Walkner
